🍻 Pub Night: A Record-Breaking Evening
Our recent Pub Night was a tremendous success! Thanks to your generosity and spirit, we raised close to $7,000—a new record for this event. It was a fantastic night filled with fun, featuring our traditional toonie toss, the silent auction, and the 50/50 draw. We were also excited to introduce our new wine and beer boards, which were a big hit.
A special thank you goes to Denise, our accountant, and Julia, our MC, for their hard work in making the evening run so smoothly.
🌱 Sylvia’s Spring Sales
The spring season is in full swing with Sylvia’s legendary sales. We have already completed Part 1 with the Manure Sale; while it required a lot of hard work, the results were well worth the effort.
Now, we look forward to Part 2: The Plant Sale!

🎨 Paint Night with Leanne Whynot
When: Wednesday, May 27th Where: Ecole Salish Secondary
Unleash your creativity! We are hosting a Paint Night (in the afternoon) led by Leanne Whynot, a talented Surrey teacher and artist. Space is very limited—we only have about 10 spots left. If you’d like a ticket, please reach out to a BBF director as soon as possible to secure your place.
🎶 Aequitas Singers’ May Concert
When: Saturday, May 30th | 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM Where: Northwood United Church (8855 156 Street, Surrey)
We are thrilled to announce that BBF has been chosen as the beneficiary of the Aequitas Singers’ upcoming concert. Aequitas is a wonderful Surrey-based social justice choir, and we are honoured to be supported by them. Stay tuned for more details!
🎁 Holiday Gift Wrapping
When: Dates TBA Where: Guildford Park Mall
It may seem early, but we’re already preparing for the holiday season! We will have four gift-wrapping dates in December. We are looking for volunteers to help us make this a success. If you can spare a shift or two, please email tnrneuman@gmail.com to sign up.

BBF Bursary Update: Selection Underway!
We are pleased to announce that the Bright Beginnings Foundation Selection Committee has received 19 applications for this year’s BBF Bursary. Our committee is currently reviewing the applications to identify the candidates who best align with the bursary’s goals.
This year, we are excited to award one full-ride bursary, along with several smaller grants ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 to further support our students’ academic journeys.
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society and LMDG Building Consultants for their generous donation of refurbished laptops. In a wonderful gesture of community support, these laptops will be offered to every single one of our applicants to help bridge the digital divide.
